SIX-STEPS OF LEARNING

Art Sparks' six-steps of learning empower the whole child, and include: watch, discuss, share, meditate, create, and present.

Art Sparks’ six-steps of learning engage, educate, and empower the whole child. The innovative six-step approach increases engagement, and benefits facilitators as well as participants. This methodology equips teachers, parents, counselors, and others with techniques that promote personal growth—their own and their children’s.

Note that each session, except the last, incorporates a six-step methodology. Some steps, like the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) and Meditation, are optional, depending on your time.

The Art Sparks six-steps of learning are:

1. View a chapter of Divine Sparks film. Each film clip conveys a color, a phase of cosmic emergence, and an idea that sets the tone of the session. For example, green represents the emergence of Earth, and growth.

2. Discuss related ideas and vocabulary.

3. Engage in Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) by sharing what you see in an artwork from the film clip. (optional)

4. Engage in a guided meditation. (optional)

5. Create a personal piece of art based on a choice of prompts.

6. Present and share artwork with peers.
